How Chord Draft decides

Chord Draft is an AI-orchestrated harmony drafting coach. It does not treat music theory as optional, and it does not return a loop without checking why the progression fits.

What AI does

  • Interprets ambiguous prompt language like feelings, lyric fragments, and vibe words.
  • Helps compare musically valid directions when more than one path fits the request.
  • Polishes explanations into plain language for students and concise theory language for instructors.

What deterministic rules do

  • Score candidate harmony directions for prompt fit, clarity, playability, and loop satisfaction.
  • Audit Roman numerals, harmonic function, tension and release, and voice-leading movement.
  • Keep the final output explainable and reject weak or low-coverage explanation states.

The visible result

  1. You describe the feel, lyric, or creative direction.
  2. Chord Draft compares valid harmony directions instead of jumping straight to one opaque answer.
  3. The selected progression is checked for theory, playability, and explanation coverage.
  4. Jam shows why the progression won, what it optimized for, and what other directions were possible.

How to ask explicitly

  • Exact chords: Use these exact chords: Am7 Fmaj7 C G
  • Exact progression: Keep A E F#m D exactly
  • Key and scale: 4 chords in A minor
  • Feel and style: Dreamy worship in D major
  • Continuation: I already have this verse: Am F C G. Give me a chorus next.
